All weddings are special, but when we are lucky enough to land on the other side of the globe and go to NY to be in Laura and Lekan’s wedding, the motivation is even more if possible.
We arrived in Brooklyn on a rainy morning and we met the couple in a coffeeshop in Dumbo, a very cool area with stunning views to Brooklyn bridge. We shared a good hot white coffee, some laughs and confidences, and the time we spent together was enough to make us feel a huge excitement for this wedding! Laura and Lekan are an amazing couple, kind, loving, close… and there is no need to say that they are brimming with love for each other and complicity. How were we supposed not to capture all this!
During all Thursday morning we were walking with them along the city and we took advantage of the situation to do a pre wedding shooting in some of the most symbolic areas of NY. We enjoyed the river views, the carousel, coffeeshops in amazing corners…
The next day it was time for the wedding and they couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate it than an old dancing school, with its rooms full of mirrors, the bars for the dancers and the floors, worn away by the amount of dances that took place between those walls. Lekan is a great dancer and I think they chose the best possible place. We loved the idea when they told us the ceremony would take place in the school’s small theater. Can you imagine a better setting?
Before the “I do” we took a walk with the couple along with the witnesses and the bridesmaids to take a few shots on the neighborhood alleys among old factories that have now become bars or restaurants with an amazing aesthetics.
After the ceremony came a dinner with no protocol and a party that lasted until the early hours. This family has the dancing in their veins and it was impossible to keep up with their rhythm and dance steps. We truly loved sharing this experience.
